Dispatcher
The Dispatcher is responsible for acting as a liaison between drivers and clients and effectively dispatching delivery jobs. This person uses care in directing drivers in a timely manner and always works with safety in mind.
- Prepares delivery schedules and daily routes
- Coordinates all deliveries by applying knowledge of customer schedules and deadlines
- Applies knowledge of service areas and vehicle capacity to dispatch sufficient coverage and meet schedules
- Gives attention to specific delivery requirements and notates delivery details on each order
- Communicates pertinent information and any changes to the drivers to ensure their success
- Obtains and completes the required paperwork in accordance with customer requests
- Plans the most efficient routing, giving attention to specific delivery requirements noted on jobs or as directed by Lead Dispatcher
- Operates communication equipment to properly communicate with drivers, including operation of a dispatch computer, software programs, telephone and mobile phones, among other tools.
- Answers all incoming calls, via a multi-line telephone, in a pleasant and professional manner
- Receive and process customer delivery requests as they come in
- Regularly checks email and corresponds to customer emails
- Assists in loading / unloading materials to and from company vehicles as necessary
- Informs customers of their shipment status according to delivery schedules and deadlines
- Resolves operational and delivery problems that require immediate attention
- Remain up to date on driver work schedules to efficiently remain within work hour limits
- Applies knowledge about company policies, procedures and pricing to best meet customer needs
- Adheres to company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Driver
The Courier Driver is responsible for pickup and delivery of packages of various sizes and weights from customers in many different locations, to be completed in a timely and courteous manner. Ensures all equipment used is in working order and inspected daily. Uses care in moving packages and always works with safety in mind. Drivers wear uniforms and operate company owned cars (manual and automatic), cargo vans, box trucks and stake bed trucks.
- General knowledge of freeways, cities, towns, and zip codes in San Diego County and Southern California
- Familiarity with operating a smart phone and GPS mapping
- Able to read, write and communicate verbally in English
- Must communicate in a friendly manner with coworkers and customers
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Outside and in the environment of a vehicle with varying temperatures
- Working in different environments delivery items
- Entering and exiting a vehicle repeatedly throughout the day
QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND DOCUMENTS:
- Proof of legal ability to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a Preliminary Background Check and Homeland Security Background Check to satisfy Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements
- Must be at least 25 years of age
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) with 7 years of proven safe driving record
- No more than 1 minor moving violation within the last 3 years, or DUI/Careless driving within 5 years
